Defintions

Here is a collection of terms that I've come to use while developing MapGen.

# Terrain Type

- Procedural Terrain
- water (seas, rivers, etc…) and mountains, so called because they are defined by a height map which is a two dimension function

- Grown Terrain
- plain, farm, forest, swamp, waste, so called because they are generated with methods similar to single cell automatons

# Province Size

Province size is determined by the ratio of area of a province to the expected average area of a province. This ratio is defined as

\begin{align} \varepsilon=\frac{sn}{xy} \end{align}

Small

(2)\begin{align} 0 < \varepsilon \leq \frac{1}{2} \end{align}

Medium

(3)\begin{align} \frac{1}{2} < \varepsilon \leq 2 \end{align}

Large

(4)\begin{align} 2 < \varepsilon \end{align}
